The Mahoning County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities met at Monday at Meshel MASCO, 160 Marwood Circle, Boardman, and handled these matters:
Superintendent Larry Duck announced that the annual planning meeting, at which service agencies, community members and MRDD staff develop a plan for the next year, is from 7 to 9 p.m. June 16 at Leonard Kirtz School.
Duck announced that graduation at Leonard Kirtz School will be at 7 p.m. May 29. The speaker will be Judge Maureen Cronin of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Graduation is for students who have become 21 and move on to adult services.
Duck said the board will meet in special session at 5:30 p.m. May 22 to consider bids to repair the floor of the bus garage, repair a pavilion behind Leonard Kirtz School, and expand the front office there. Estimated cost of the projects is $69,895. Deadline for bids is 1 p.m. May 21.
The board approved a contract to pay Ken Albert of Columbus $70 an hour plus expenses for Medicaid consultation and review services through Dec. 31. Duck estimated the contract would not exceed 70 hours.
The board approved a $325,000 contract with ArcRae of Boardman to provide family resources, mainly supplies, equipment and respite services, between July 1, 2003, and June 30, 2004.
The board approved three contracts with Exceed Rehabilitation Services of Warren. They are: $47,000 for adult physical therapy and $47,000 for adult occupational therapy, both June 7 through Dec. 31; and $105,672 for occupational therapy at Leonard Kirtz School from June 7, 2003, through June 6, 2004.
