Indian Express will miss Preakness Stakes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Indian Express, trained by Bob Baffert, will miss Saturday's Preakness because of a minor foot injury.
"He's not lame or off or anything," Baffert said Sunday. "I could run him in the Preakness, but I don't want to do it."
Indian Express, a runner-up in the Santa Anita Derby, finished 14th in the Kentucky Derby. The bay colt was scheduled to work at Churchill Downs today.
Baffert said a small filling was found on the pastern on the colt's left front foot. The pastern is the part of a horse's foot just above the hoof.
"I'd have to run him without a work and I don't want to run him without a work," Baffert said.
Baffert said the injury won't require surgery.
"He'll heal himself up," he said.
Baffert, a four-time Preakness winner, still plans to enter Senor Swinger in Saturday's race at Pimlico. The winner of the Crown Royal American Turf was scheduled to work at Churchill Downs today.
