FUND-RAISER Golf outing June 20 to benefit LifeBanc



The event is limited to 128 golfers who will play at Pine Lakes Golf Course.
HUBBARD -- Pine Lakes Golf Course will be the setting June 20 for the sixth annual Swing for Life Golf Classic to benefit LifeBanc, a nonprofit organ procurement organization that coordinates organ and tissue donations in 20 northeast Ohio counties.

Registration and a continental breakfast will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 10:30. Lunch will be served at the turn, and dinner is planned for 4 p.m.
The outing is limited to 128 golfers. The cost is $100 for 18 holes of golf; there is a fee of $25 for dinner only. Checks payable to MV/AIF may be sent to MV/AIF, 872 Route 193, Farmdale, Ohio 44417.
Winning teams will receive cash and prizes. The first-place team will get $500, second will get $250 and third, $100. Prizes will be awarded for any hole-in-one on a par-three hole. Prizes include a two-year lease on a 2003 Dodge vehicle. Two sports packages will be raffled, and a special raffle also will be held for an Ohio State University game helmet signed by Coach Jim Tressel. Tickets are $50 each.

How LifeBanc works
LifeBanc is part of the United Network for Organ Sharing, a computer network that matches donors and recipients nationwide. Its staff works continuously with more than 77 hospitals.
In northeast Ohio, transplants are performed at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Northeast Ohio Transplant Center at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Summa Health System-Akron City Hospital Renal Transplant Center and University Hospitals of Ohio.
More than 1,300 people in northeast Ohio and 79,000 people nationwide are waiting for transplants. According to LifeBanc, one donor can save or improve the lives of 50 people.
