OAKLAND, Calif. -- Mark Mulder allowed three hits in eight innings to win his fifth straight start. Miguel Tejada, Ron Gant and Eric Byrnes homered off Andy Pettitte (4-3) for the A's, who took two of three from New York for the second straight weekend. Mulder (6-1) gave up two runs, walked two and struck out a season-high eight. He came within an inning of throwing his fourth straight complete game. Keith Foulke pitched the ninth for his 10th save. Enrique Wilson homered for the Yankees, who lost their first road series of the season.
Blue Jays 4, Angels 2
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Roy Halladay won his third straight start and Tom Wilson homered to lead Toronto, which has won eight of 10. Halladay (3-2), winless in his first six starts after winning 19 games last season, allowed two runs and six hits over 7 2/3 innings. Jarrod Washburn (3-4) gave up three runs in six innings.
Mariners 7, White Sox 2
SEATTLE -- Jamie Moyer (5-2) pitched seven sharp innings and Seattle got home runs from Edgar Martinez, Mike Cameron and Greg Colbrunn. Moyer, Jeff Nelson and Kazuhiro Sasaki held the White Sox to three hits, matching a season low for Chicago. Chicago left-hander Mark Buehrle (2-6), a 19-game winner last season, lost his career-high fifth consecutive start.
Royals 8, Orioles 5
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Rookie Ken Harvey sparked a four-run seventh with a tie-breaking two-run single off Travis Driskill (0-1) to propel Kansas City. Harvey has eight game-tying or go-ahead hits in his past 18 games, including a two-run homer in the eighth inning Saturday. Sean Lowe (1-0), making his second appearance for the Royals, pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh and got the win.
Tigers 9, Devil Rays 2
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Eric Munson homered and Shane Halter, Dmitri Young and Carlos Pena each drove in two runs to lead Detroit. Nate Cornejo (3-2) pitched six innings, allowing two runs and seven hits for the Tigers. Left-hander Steve Avery pitched the eighth inning, appearing in his first regular season game in the majors since 1999.
Twins 9, Red Sox 8
MINNEAPOLIS -- Jacque Jones had three hits and scored three runs, and Brad Radke won his third consecutive start. The Red Sox rallied from a 9-1 deficit and cut it to 9-8 in the ninth inning on Shea Hillenbrand's two-out, two-run single. But closer Eddie Guardado retired Bill Mueller on a grounder with two on for his eighth save. First baseman Doug Mientkiewicz made a diving stretch to corral the throw from shortstop Cristian Guzman and preserve the lead. Jeremy Giambi had four hits for Boston, including two homers.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Braves 7, Giants 3
ATLANTA -- Javy Lopez hit a three-run homer, helping Mike Hampton (2-1). Lopez and Marcus Giles had three hits apiece for the Braves, who waited out a rain delay of 1 hour, 52 minutes. Rafael Furcal tied it with an RBI double in the fifth inning, then scored the go-ahead run on consecutive wild pitches by Jason Schmidt (3-1). John Smoltz worked a scoreless ninth in a non-save situation. The Braves have won the last 69 games in which he has pitched, a major league record.
Dodgers 4, Expos 3
MONTREAL -- Shawn Green homered after making a spectacular catch and Odalis Perez (2-2) pitched into the seventh for Los Angeles. Los Angeles closer and Montreal native Eric Gagne got the last four outs to protect a one-run lead and remain perfect in 12 save opportunities this season. Green hit his fifth homer off Livan Hernandez (3-2) with two outs in the sixth to tie it at 1 after diving headfirst to make a run-saving catch on Hernandez's shallow fly to right to end the fifth.
Mets 3, Padres 2
NEW YORK -- Roger Cedeno tripled and scored the tie-breaking run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning. Graeme Lloyd (1-0) pitched two perfect innings for the win. Armando Benitez worked the ninth for his 11th save in 15 chances.
Reds 7, Brewers 5
CINCINNATI -- Adam Dunn homered twice off Wayne Franklin (1-4) and drove in five runs to lead Cincinnati. Jeff Austin (2-1) pitched seven innings and Scott Williamson got out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth for the Reds. Eric Young hit Milwaukee's first inside-the-park homer in eight years. Geoff Jenkins and Eddie Perez also homered.
Astros 10, Phillies 7
PHILADELPHIA -- Lance Berkman and Geoff Blum homered, and Adam Everett had a career-high three hits as Houston avoided a three-game sweep. The Astros, who have won eight of 10, got 12 hits, including two apiece by Berkman, Blum and Craig Biggio. Berkman and Everett each drove in two runs. Jim Thome hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and Pat Burrell followed with a solo shot for the Phillies.
