FOXBORO, Mass. -- Brian Kamler and Taylor Twellman each scored in a seven-minute span in the second half to give the New England Revolution a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday.
Kamler scored his first goal of the season on a 15-yard shot in the 59th minute, taking a cross from Jay Heaps and one-timing a left-footed shot from the left side of the box into the goal.
The Revolution (2-2-1) took a 2-0 lead in the 66th minute when Twellman scored from point-blank range after taking a pass from Daniel Hernandez.
The defending MLS champion Galaxy, winless in five matches (0-4-1), were limited to four shots and two corner kicks.
New England's Adin Brown made two terrific saves in the second half for his first shutout of the season. He made a diving save on Ezra Hendrickson in the 68th minute and another on Sasha Victorine in the 70th minute.
WUSA
WASHINGTON -- Abby Wambach had the first three-goal game in Washington franchise history as the Freedom beat the Philadelphia Charge 4-1 on Saturday.
The hat trick for Wambach, who has five goals against Philadelphia in four career games, was also the seventh in league history.
Mia Hamm also scored for Washington (4-0-1), which improved to 11-0-3 in its last 14 regular-season games dating to last June. The win was the Freedom's first against the Charge in four games at home after three losses and a tie.
Jen Tietjen-Prozzo scored the only goal for Philadelphia (0-4).
Wambach opened the scoring for Washington in the seventh minute when she headed in a corner kick from Hamm in the seventh minute. She made it 2-0 just 12 minutes later by heading in another cross from Skylar Little.
After Tietjen-Prozzo's goal made it 2-1, Hamm converted a penalty kick in the 79th minute to restore Washington's two-goal advantage.
Wambach scored her third of the game in the closing seconds of injury time when she collected the rebound from Kelly Goleboiwski's deflection off the crossbar and shot it into the open net.
