COLLEGE BASEBALL YSU splits doubleheader with Horizon's Panthers



The Penguins couldn't hold a 4-1 lead in the second game.

MILWAUKEE -- Jim Lipinski went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Youngstown State baseball rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat UW-Milwaukee 6-3 in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader at Henry Aaron Field.
The Penguins lost the second game, 5-4.
Trailing 3-1 in the sixth, Lipinski and Brian Boone each had RBI singles and Kendall Schlabach added an RBI triple and scored on a passed ball as the Penguins scored four runs to take control.
Adam Cox and Justin Banks each went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for YSU, which added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Kyle Sobocki (5-4) gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out seven to get the victory.
Aaron Bushong (2-6) gave up five runs in five innings to get the loss.
Troy Docring had two hits for the Panthers.
Second game
The Penguins took a 4-1 lead in the second game, but the Panthers scored three runs in the fifth and added the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.
Marcellus Dawson went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI for UWM (23-21, 11-8 Horizon League). Sam Jansen added two hits with a run and an RBI.
Schlabach had two doubles and scored a run for the Penguins (24-25, 12-11) and Brandon Caipen had two hits and two RBIs.
Corey Ohalek (5-4) went the whole way for YSU, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits. He struck out four and walked three.
Korey Keller started and gave up four runs in five innings for the Panthers. Ben Stanczyk (3-0) struck out four in two innings of relief to pick up the win.
