OAKLAND, Calif. -- Roger Clemens earned his 298th career victory, pitching shutout ball into the seventh inning and leading the New York Yankees over the Oakland Athletics 5-2 Saturday.
Clemens ended his two-game losing streak by giving up one run and six hits in 62/3 innings.
The Rocket (5-2) struck out five, leaving him 41 short of reaching 4,000. He walked one.
Clemens, a six-time AL Cy Young winner, won his rematch with Barry Zito, who got the award last year.
Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth for his third save.
Zito (5-3) gave up four runs on five hits over six innings. He walked four and struck out seven.
Jorge Posada hit a three-run homer and Bernie Williams had a solo shot for the Yankees.
Williams led off the fourth with his seventh home run of the season to give the Yankees the early lead. He hit a drive that just made it over the left-field fence about 10 feet from the foul line.

Devil Rays 3, Tigers 1
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Seth McClung allowed one run in seven innings and Aubrey Huff homered to lead Tampa Bay.
McClung (3-1) gave up five hits, struck out nine and walked two in his third career start and 10th appearance overall.
Huff put the Devil Rays up 1-0 with his ninth homer in the first inning.
Al Levine and Lance Carter completed a seven-hitter, with Carter pitching the ninth for his seventh save.
Eric Munson had a solo homer for the Tigers. It was the major league-leading eighth time Detroit was shutout this season.
Javier Valentin hit an RBI double to put Tampa Bay ahead 2-0 in the fourth.
Munson got the Tigers within 2-1 on his third homer in the seventh.
Carl Crawford's run-scoring double in the bottom of the inning gave Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead. It was just his third RBI in 24 games.
Tigers starter Jeremy Bonderman (2-5) gave up three runs and eight hits over 62/3 innings. The rookie had two strikeouts and walked one.
Detroit's Bobby Higginson was ejected by plate umpire Phil Cuzzi for arguing a third strike in the sixth inning.
He started toward first base after a 3-2 pitch from McClung. After Cuzzi called the pitch a strike, Higginson walked slowly in front of the umpire as he headed toward the dugout and was then thrown out of the game shortly after he started talking to Cuzzi.
