BENEFIT Hearing and speech center to hold 11th annual dinner



The Four Square Club will be honored at the event.
BOARDMAN -- The Youngstown Hearing & amp; Speech Center will hold its 11th annual Great Communicators Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Mr. Anthony's.
The Four Square Club will be honored with the 2003 Great Communicators award for its contributions to communications and service to the community.
Four Square Club was founded Nov. 19, 1918. One of its earliest endeavors was to sponsor a Christmas party for deaf and hearing-impaired children in the Youngstown area, a tradition that continues. The event has been held at the Youngstown Hearing & amp; Speech Center for the past two years. The club also extends its philanthropic efforts to other organizations such as the Youngstown State University football program, Camp Fitch and the YMCA.
The May Vetterle Award will be presented to Irene Tunanidas. The award is given to an individual or family living with a speech or hearing loss and serving as a role model to others.
The program
Guest speaker for the event will be Bob Hannon, sports director for WYTV News Channel 33 and host of "Penguin Power," a television show devoted to the YSU football season. Hannon, whose mother was deaf, will share his personal story. The evening's master of ceremonies will be Vince Bevacqua, a WYTV anchor.
Tickets for the dinner are $40 and may be obtained by calling the hearing and speech center at (330) 726-8855. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the center.
