INDUCTION Junior women's league installs new officers



BOARDMAN -- The installation of officers and induction of new members highlighted a meeting held by the Boardman-Poland Junior Women's League on May 5 at the Holiday Inn.
The league is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs-Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs.
Susan Rebhan, former OFWC director, was in charge of the installation of the following: Kim Brauer Pillin, president; Lynn Mickey; first vice president; Yvonne Ford, second vice president; Paige Schantz, corresponding secretary; Sandy Milligan, recording secretary; and Lynn Slaina, treasurer.
Serving on the board of directors will be the following chairwomen: Mary Dulay, homelife, international affairs and public affairs; Liz Wilkes, arts, conservation and education; Derrie Wilkes, community special needs; Bethann Zoldan, social; Tara Peters, ways and means; Stacy Grischow, publicity; and Mary Florence Miller, policy and planning.
Other business
Goldie Sites, OFWC Northeast District president, inducted new members who completed the provisional class project, a free comic book day, and proceeds of a bake sale were donated to Robinwood Lane Elementary School Library.
Announced by the newly installed president was her theme, "Reaching Out," which includes reaching out to the community through Advocacy for Children and Our Help for the Elderly. The president also hopes to increase membership in the league and to promote unity in the club.
The special project for the year will be making teddy bears to be placed in Boardman Township Police cars and used to comfort children involved in auto accidents or who are witnesses to or victims of domestic violence or child abuse.
Tentative plans were made for a Williamsburg Christmas and a spring fashion show.
The organization
The league is open to women over 18 in Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties. The Juniorette branch is open to those 12 to 18 who are interested in serving as volunteers for community service projects.
