SALEM -- Police are advising city residents that the police department is not soliciting for funds.
Police have received several calls from residents saying they have received phone calls from someone seeking donations for the "Salem Police Athletic League." The city police department has no such organization.
Pupils donate to troops
MINERAL RIDGE -- First- and second-grade pupils at Seaborn Elementary School have donated $550 to military personnel stationed in Iraq. The children collected the money at home by doing chores or giving up their allowance, school officials say. The money has been given to the USO to be spent as it sees fit.
