Doctorate from Harvard
Rebecca Bennette of Trumbull County will receive her doctorate from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., on June 5.
She obtained her master's degree from Harvard in 1997. She earned her undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, where she graduated with honors as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, in 1995.
Bennette graduated from Howland High School in 1991. She is the daughter of James and Sachiko Bennette of Cortland.

Cooley graduate
Kyia Orville Clardy of Youngstown recently graduated from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing, Mich.
Clardy is an Ursuline High School graduate and earned a bachelor's degree from John Carroll University, Cleveland. She is the daughter of Atty. Rodger and Patricia Williams Dixon of Youngstown and the late Jeffrey Clardy.
Certified in mediation
Ursula P. Shugart of Canfield has earned her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law and recently was licensed to practice law by the Ohio Supreme Court.
Atty. Shugart, who is certified to practice general mediation and divorce law, worked for the Summit County prosecutor's office as a legal intern-assistant prosecutor. She has a private practice at 3855 Starr's Centre Drive, Canfield, and has established the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
A graduate of Osceola High School, Orlando, Fla., Shugart received her bachelor's degree in criminal justice with honors in 1999 from Youngstown State University, where she also minored in philosophy and psychology.
She is the daughter of Thomas F. Shugart of Canfield.
