Charter Pipeline 250
Schedule: Today, qualifying, 5:35 p.m. (Speed Channel, 7 p.m., tape); Saturday, race (FX, 2:30 p.m.).
Track: Gateway International Raceway, Madison, Ill. (egg-shaped oval, 1.25 miles, 11 degrees banking in turns 1-2, 9 degrees in turns 3-4).
Race distance: 250 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Kevin Harvick took the lead with 51 laps to go and needed a late caution to hold off Scott Riggs to win the crash-filled Hardee's 250 under caution. The race at Richmond, Va., featured an event-record 14 cautions that slowed the pace for 93 laps, including a crash by Mike Bliss that brought out the 13th yellow flag after 241 laps.
Last year: Greg Biffle got his third Busch victory of the 2002 season, holding off Ron Hornaday in the Charter Pipeline 250 at Gateway International Raceway.

Last race: Rookie Sebastien Bourdais recorded his first CART victory in only his fourth career start after winning the circuit's first visit to Brands Hatch, England. His teammate, Bruno Junqueira finished second.
