Flash fire at local storeburns two employees
CANFIELD -- Two Do-Cut True Value store employees were listed in stable condition this morning in the Akron Burn Center.
Chief Bob Tieche of the Cardinal Joint Fire Department said Stanley Kosocowski, 42, and David Scott Crinsic, 23, were burned about 12:50 p.m. Thursday at the South Raccoon Road store in a flash fire.
Kosocowski was burned over 18 percent of his body, and Crinsic suffered burns to 25 percent of his body, Tieche said.
The fire was extinguished by other Do-Cut employees.
The cause probably will not be determined for a few weeks, Tieche said.
The fire didn't cause any damage to the business.
Partners' Day at academy
YOUNGSTOWN -- New Hope Academy will have its final Partners' Day from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the school, 1400 Oak Hill Ave.
Because of financial difficulties, the school will close its doors June 6. Factors in the decision to close were declining enrollments, declining Youngstown population, surrounding nontuition community/charter schools, increased expenses and less contributions, school officials said.
Though tuition once accounted for 35 percent of income, last year it was 16 percent.
Partners are community members who made donations to the school to "partner" with a child.
Tuesday's event begins with refreshments and socializing in the school's lunch room and moves to classrooms for interactive projects. Call (330) 743-HOPE(4673).
