Family dinner party is planned in celebration of Leedy anniversary
XAUSTINTOWN -- The 60th wedding anniversary of Robert and Dorothy Leedy, 236 S. Beverly Ave., will be observed May 17 during a family dinner party at Davidson's Banquet Room and a gathering afterward at the Leedy home.
Hosts for the event will be the couple's family, Ronald and Susan Leedy of Garden Grove, Calif., and Robert and Joyce Williams of Channahon, Ill. There are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren in the family.
The former Dorothy Myers and Mr. Leedy were united in marriage April 17, 1943, at the former St. Paul United Church of Christ in Youngstown. They are members of Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Leedy worked in the offices at Republic Rubber Co. Now a homemaker, she has been a volunteer for Forum Health at the Northside Medical Center for 30 years and is a 51-year member of Miriam Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star.
Mr. Leedy served in the Quartermaster Corps with the U.S. Army in 1941-42. He was employed 40 years at Roofing and Sheet Metal Co., where he was president from 1969 to 1974. Afterward he worked at Salem Industries before retiring in 1982. He is a 54-year member of Hillman Lodge 481, for which he served as worshipful master in 1956, and is a member of Youngstown Chapter 93 Royal Arch Masons and AASR-Valley of Youngstown. He was a tax counselor for 25 years with the American Association of Retired Persons and has served on a volunteer basis for 25 years.
