EAST PALESTINE Teens' art and music to be displayed at school

The public is invited to see and hear the works of art.
EAST PALESTINE -- All year long, fine-arts students at East Palestine High School have put their best efforts forward.
On Monday, the public is invited to catch a glimpse of some of that work during the school's annual Evening at the Arts. The event, which has been a mainstay at the school for more than 20 years, showcases students' accomplishments with a concert and art display.
Admission is free and the public is invited to look at and listen to what students in grades nine through 12 consider to be some of their best work.
"These are works and programs students have been working on all year," said Greg Aker, fine-arts teacher and an event coordinator.
"The work is spectacular. We're very proud of what our students have done."
Exhibits
An exhibit featuring art works ranging from sculpture to drawings to paintings will open at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Works from home economics and industrial arts classes will also be displayed.
A concert featuring performances by the high school choir, band and jazz ensemble will begin at 7 p.m.
"This is something we do at the end of the year to show people in the community what the kids have done," Aker said of the event.
"I know if they come into the school on Monday night, they definitely will be impressed with the work we have here ... and what they have to offer. It is definitely worthwhile to see what our students have created."
