Burkleys honored at dinner for 50th anniversary

XCANFIELD -- Mr. and Mrs. Dorce Sam Burkley of Canfield were the guests of honor May 2 at a dinner at the Holiday Inn in Boardman in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the festivity were the couple's daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Michael Welsh, Jill and Gail McCullough, all of Canfield, and Dana and Richard Beil of Saline, Mich. The couple's seven grandchildren also participated.
Mr. Burkley and the former Marilyn J. Stemen were married April 19, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Van Wert. He served in the U.S. Navy and as an officer with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He is a retired insurance adjuster for State Auto Insurance and is active in several golf leagues.
His wife is active in bridge clubs in the area and in Punta Gorda, Fla.
The Burkleys are members of First Presbyterian Church of Canfield.
