2 face charges of selling drugs to YSU students
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 20-year-old Farrell, Pa., woman sold marijuana from her Kilcawley House dormitory to fellow students at Youngstown State University, police say.
A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Ebony Davis on three counts of trafficking in marijuana, said Sgt. Randy Williams, a member of the Mahoning Valley Drug Task Force. Results of her arraignment Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court were not immediately available.
The task force, along with city and campus police, began the investigation in January.
Williams, also a YSU campus police officer, said students complained about drug activity in the dorm. Cooperating sources made controlled buys from Davis, Williams said. Davis sold $10 and $20 bags of suspected marijuana that she bought in Farrell, the sergeant said.
In a somewhat related case, the grand jury handed up a four-count indictment against Michael Jones, 23, of Ohio Avenue.
Jones is not a YSU student, although he says he is, Williams said.
Jones, charged with four counts of aggravated trafficking in marijuana, sold to students, Williams said.
The investigation began last December and also involved controlled buys.
Police arrested Jones on Wednesday at the Ohio Avenue home.
They charged him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia (scale).
