Two are sentenced in firearms scheme
PITTSBURGH -- Edrick R. Spearman, also known as Quan Brown and Maquan Brown, formerly of New Castle and Grand Rapids, Mich., and Elaine R. Wilder of New Castle have been sentenced in federal court for firearms law violations.
U.S. Atty. Mary Beth Buchanan said Spearman was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison to be followed by three years' parole for transportation of a firearm or ammunition by a felon. Wilder got three years' probation for falsification of firearms purchase forms.
Buchanan said Wilder, 24, of 238 W. Lincoln Ave., filled out firearms purchase forms to buy five firearms from a store in New Castle for Spearman. Buchanan said Spearman, 27, formerly of 202 W. Lincoln Ave., could not buy firearms because he is a felon. She said Wilder misrepresented herself as the buyer of the guns, and Spearman took three of the guns to Michigan.
