REGION Giant Eagle expands by opening its first convenience store in Canton

CANTON -- Giant Eagle is getting into the convenience store business.
The Pittsburgh-based grocery giant opened its first Ohio GetGo from Giant Eagle convenience store and fuel station in Canton this week, and a second is set to open Monday in Cuyahoga Falls.
The Canton store is adjacent to a Giant Eagle supermarket on Raff Road and includes 12 fueling stations. Merchandise includes milk, bread, frozen foods and typical convenience items like snacks, film and batteries.
The stores will offer discounts to Giant Eagle Advantage Card holders, including a 2-cent per gallon discount on all grades of gasoline for a limited time.
Other GetGo stores will be opening in Ohio and Pennsylvania this year, the company said, with some to be adjacent to the chain's supermarkets and others to be free-standing.
GetGo is a product of Crossroads Convenience LLC, a joint venture between Giant Eagle and the owners of Guttman Enterprises. The joint venture also manages 27 Crossroads stores and 15 Giant Eagle Fuel Station locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
