Former SRU professor to deliver speech
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Dr. Claire Settlemire, a retired history professor at Slippery Rock University, will deliver the address to more than 900 graduates at the university's commencement exercises at 11 a.m. Saturday in N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
Settlemire, an expert on Egyptian history, has won several awards and was twice a Fulbright seminar participant, meeting with various education and government leaders including Indira Ghandi. She retired last June after 34 years at SRU.
SRU's Army ROTC program will commission nine cadets as second lieutenants at 9 a.m. in Strain Behavioral Science Building Auditorium.
Also at 9 a.m. will be a continental breakfast for graduates and guests in the Russell Wright Alumni House. A post-commencement reception will be in the University Union.
