AROUND THE HORN Tuesday's other games

NATIONAL LEAGUE
Reds 6, Cardinals 5
CINCINNATI -- Barry Larkin returned from the disabled list and delivered a pinch-hit two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning. Brett Tomko gave up eight hits in eight innings, and was in position to get his first victory against his former team before the bullpen let him down.
Mets 3, Dodgers 2
NEW YORK -- Tony Clark and Vance Wilson hit consecutive homers in the fourth inning . Pedro Astacio (2-1) allowed two runs and four hits in six innings, and David Weathers, Mike Stanton, Scott Strickland and Armando Benitez finished the five-hitter. Benitez pitched the ninth for his 10th save in 14 chances.
Expos 4, Padres 2
MONTREAL -- Wil Cordero hit a three-run homer and Livan Hernandez pitched into the eighth inning to lead the Expos, who drew just 5,841 fans after returning from a 3-3 road trip.
Giants 4, Marlins 2
MIAMI -- Benito Santiago's two-run homer broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth, and Barry Bonds hit his 10th homer for the Giants. Santiago's fourth homer of the season came off reliever Armando Almanza (3-1).
Braves 3, Rockies 2
ATLANTA -- Andruw Jones hit a two-out, two-run homer in the eighth inning as the Braves won for the 17th time in 20 games. John Smoltz pitched a scoreless ninth for his major league-leading 13th save in 14 chances. The Braves have won 65 straight games in which he's pitched.
Brewers 9, Cubs 6
CHICAGO -- Eddie Perez had five RBIs and John Vander Wal singled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning to lift the Brewers in a game delayed when the Wrigley Field lights dimmed. Perez's three-run homer in the eighth tied it at 6. Corey Patterson hit a three-run homer and had four RBIs for the Cubs, putting Mark Prior in position to become the NL's first five-game winner. But the Chicago bullpen gave up a three-run lead in the eighth, then blew the game in the ninth.
Diamondbacks 6, Phillies 5
PHOENIX -- Danny Bautista's sacrifice fly scored Steve Finley in the ninth inning, and Arizona overcame Jim Thome's two home runs to beat Philadelphia. The Diamondbacks rallied from a 4-0 deficit to clinch just their second series victory of the season. Oscar Villarreal (3-2) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Red Sox 7, Royals 3
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Doug Mirabelli had four hits and Todd Walker drove in three runs as Boston handed the Royals their first loss in 12 home games this season. The Royals fell one victory short of matching the 1911 Detroit Tigers, who opened 12-0 at home to set the modern major league record for the longest home winning streak to start a season. Casey Fossum (3-1) took a two-hit shutout into the seventh.
Athletics 6, White Sox 0
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Mark Mulder pitched a five-hitter for his third straight complete game. Mulder made quick work of the struggling White Sox for his seventh career shutout, and second this season. He struck out four and walked two in a game that took just 1 hour, 49 minutes -- the fastest Oakland game since Aug. 12, 1979, at Minnesota.
Tigers 7, Orioles 6
BALTIMORE -- Dmitri Young went 5-for-5 with two homers, two triples and five RBIs as Detroit clinched its first series victory since August. After the Orioles scored three unearned runs in the eighth inning to pull even, Young tripled in the tiebreaking run in the ninth. Young's five hits were a career high. He also singled, and would have hit for the cycle if he stopped at second on his ninth-inning hit off Buddy Groom.
Twins 7, Devil Rays 3
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Jacque Jones hit a pair of solo homers and went 5-for-5 as Minnesota beat Tampa Bay for the ninth straight time. Brad Radke (3-3), pitching while appealing a five-game suspension for his role in a beanball dustup with the Devil Rays last week, scattered seven hits over seven innings.
Blue Jays 15, Rangers 5
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Carlos Delgado hit two of Toronto's five home runs in a rout of Texas.
Mariners 12, Yankees 7
SEATTLE -- Ichiro Suzuki matched a career high with three RBIs and Seattle sent New York to its first three-game losing streak of the season. Jamie Moyer (4-2) held the best offense in baseball in check for five innings, and the AL West-leading Mariners roughed up Andy Pettitte (4-2) to win for the 17th time in 22 games.
