YOUNGSTOWN -- Sophomore Jen Perugini was named the most valuable player at the awards dinner Sunday.
Perugini led the team in scoring and rebounding, and had the highest free throw percentage.
Other winners were junior Devan Novak, field goal percentage leader and 3-point field goal percentage; junior Jessica Forsythe, most improved, and sophomore Jessica Olmstead, best defensive player and hustle award.

Tamer Win scramble
CORTLAND -- Tamer Win Golf Course will hold its annual two-person scramble May 17 with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Baseball camp
NILES -- The Northeast Ohio Baseball Camp for boys and girls ages 7-17 will be held May 18 at Cafaro Field.
From 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., a camp covering throwing, fielding, baserunning and hitting will be held at a cost of $65. From 5 to 7 p.m., a pitching clinic will be held for a cost of $40. Campers can get a rate of $90 for both clinics.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Bill Sizemore has been selected to manage the Youngstown Express team in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.
Sizemore, of Oxnard, Calif., is pitching coach at Moorpark (Calif.) High School and a middle school physical education teacher.
Formerly, he was a high school and summer league coach and pitching coach with the Utica Blue Sox of the New York-Penn League.
Sizemore played at Cal State Stanislaus, competing in the first-ever NCAA Division III College World Series.
Mixed doubles bowling
STRUTHERS -- The 40th annual Mixed Doubles Tournament will be at Bowladrome Lanes, May 16-25 and May 27-29. Cost is $22 per couple. First-place will pay $400 based on 400 entries. Entries should be submitted to 2727 Morris Lane, Girard 44420, or call (330) 530-2727.
Mahoning teamin final eight
CLEVELAND -- The Mahoning Basketball Club 17U team reached the final eight of the Adidas Hoop Challenge tournament at Cleveland State, winning three of five games.
Terrell Eargle (Fitch High) averaged 16 points and six rebounds while Mike Deonofrio (Boardman) averaged 15 points and six rebounds.
Craig Hannon (Union) averaged 13 points, Jay Davis (Boardman) got nine rebounds and Chris Saltis (North Canton Hoover) was in with seven points an outing.
Mahoning beat Cleveland TWS 44-42, Erie, Pa. UP 47-44 and Cleveland I.B.C. 65-61 and lost to Cleveland BC twice, 58-44 and 61-51.

HELSINKI, Finland -- The United States wrapped up its worst showing at the World Hockey Championships since 1998 by routing Japan 8-1 in the final of the relegation round.
NHL players Shane Doan and Kirk Maltby each scored twice to help Canada beat Russia 5-2 and win its qualification group.
Canada will play either Finland or Germany in the quarterfinals. Russia will make the next round only if Switzerland loses to Sweden.

WEST KINGSDOWN, England -- French rookie Sebastien Bourdais captured the London Champ Car Trophy for his first CART victory, stopping Paul Tracy's season-opening winning streak at three.
