CHAMPION Professor to lead diversity workshop at KSU Trumbull
CHAMPION -- Community leaders, business and industry CEOs and human resource managers can learn ways to incorporate diversity into the work force and region May 16 at the Kent State University-Trumbull Campus.
A workshop, "How to Work in a Multicultural World in the 21st Century," is being presented by Dr. Bessie House-Soremekun, focusing on examining diversity issues in areas such as age, gender, religion, race/ethnicity, physical disability, status and sexual orientation.
House-Soremekun is executive director and founder of the Center for the Study and Development of Minority Businesses at KSU, which promotes economic self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship in the black community.
She is an associate professor of political science at KSU and an award-winning author.
Her latest book, "Confronting the Odds: African-American Entrepreneurship in Cleveland, Ohio," won the Henry Howe Book Award from the Ohio Genealogical Society.
The event, being hosted by the newly created office for work-force diversity at Kent Trumbull, will begin with a presentation workshop from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. May 16 in the work-force development and continuing studies center. A book signing and reception will follow the presentation.
