KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City became the first team in 92 years to win its first 11 home games, rallying for two runs in the ninth inning. Mike Sweeney scored the winning run on shortstop Nomar Garciaparra's second error of the game. Albie Lopez (4-0) got the win despite allowing Jason Varitek's tie-breaking homer in the top of the ninth.
Tigers 6, Orioles 1
BALTIMORE -- For the first time since August, Detroit is on a winning streak. The Tigers have won two in a row for the first time in a 66-game span, defeating Baltimore behind a strong pitching performance by Nate Cornejo. Cornejo (2-2) allowed one run, six hits and three walks in 71/3 innings.

Reds 5, Cardinals 4
CINCINNATI -- Aaron Boone led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a home run off Dustin Hermanson (0-1), as Cincinnati snapped St. Louis' seven-game winning streak. The Reds took an early four-run lead against Woody Williams but lost it by committing a season-high four errors.
Brewers 5, Cubs 3
CHICAGO -- Richie Sexson hit a two-run homer and Ben Sheets extended his dominance against Chicago. Sheets (3-3) allowed three runs and five hits in 72/3 innings, improving to 6-0 with a 2.72 ERA in six starts against the Cubs. Wes Helms also hit a two-run homer off Matt Clement (2-4). Hee Seop Choi and Eric Karros homered for Chicago.
Diamondbacks 10, Phillies 1
PHOENIX -- Steve Finley homered twice and tripled, and Matt Williams hit a grand slam and an RBI double for Arizona. Along with his four RBIs, Finley scored four times to tie a franchise record. Miguel Batista (2-2) allowed only an unearned run and seven hits in his fourth career complete game. Williams' 12th career slam with two outs in the first inning came on an 0-2 pitch from Vicente Padilla (3-4), who has lost his last three starts. He was battered for seven runs in 42/3 innings. The dugouts and bullpens emptied for a brief shoving match after Joe Roa threw behind Craig Counsell in the seventh inning, then walked toward the batter shouting. No one was ejected.
