Police said the victim was unable to explain why anyone would want to assault him. He refused medical treatment.
Generator fix mulled
LISBON -- Columbiana County officials are considering modifying the electric generator that serves the county jail and sheriff's department in Center Township.
The fix is being mulled to prevent problems such as the one that occurred Thursday when a heavy rainstorm caused the generator to fail and not come on when the storm simultaneously knocked out the commercial electric.
The jail and sheriff's department were dark for about 17 minutes before commercial power was restored, Warden Hank Escola said today. No problems with prisoners occurred during the outage.
Blowing rain had entered the generator's air intake and caused a sensor to fail, preventing the generator from turning on.
A shield can be installed for a few hundred dollars to prevent failures, Escola said.
