SAN FRANCISCO -- Jose Cruz Jr. and Andres Galarraga drove in three runs apiece, and rookie Jesse Foppert got his first major league victory as the San Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-6 Saturday.
Galarraga and Yorvit Torrealba hit two-run homers as the Giants jumped to an eight-run lead in the fourth inning, tagging Cincinnati starter Paul Wilson (1-3) for nine hits and nine runs.
Foppert (1-2), the Giants' highly regarded 22-year-old right-hander, allowed just two hits over the first five innings before Jose Guillen's three-run homer in the sixth. He struck out six and walked six, throwing 107 pitches in just his third big league start.
But Foppert didn't need to be perfect, because the Giants' offense finally awoke following a dismal week. San Francisco (20-9), off to its best start in 30 years, won for just the second time in seven games.

Rockies 6, Cubs 4
CHICAGO -- Preston Wilson hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning as Colorado rallied.
Charles Johnson also had a pair of RBIs for the Rockies, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Carlos Zambrano hit his first career home run and pitched six strong innings, but it was wasted as the Cubs bullpen gave up three runs in the eighth inning.
Justin Speier (2-0) gave up a walk in two hitless innings, and Jose Jimenez pitched the ninth for his seventh save.
Mark Guthrie (0-2) walked one and gave up two runs and a hit in two-thirds of an inning, and Cubs fans booed him as he walked off the field.

Cardinals 3, Expos 1
ST. LOUIS -- Albert Pujols hit his third home run in five games, and Garrett Stephenson worked eight innings as St. Louis won its sixth straight.
The defending NL Central champions are a season-best four games above .500 at 16-12. They're undefeated on their current six-game homestand with one game to go, outscoring their opponents 43-14.
Pujols hit a two-run homer off rookie Claudio Vargas (0-1) in the third inning that banged off a stadium club window just below the upper deck at Busch Stadium, a drive measured at 452 feet. The homer was his sixth of the season and followed an RBI single by J.D. Drew to put the Cardinals ahead 3-1.
Pujols has gone 10-for-20 with eight RBIs this week to raise his average to .388. He has been playing with a sprained elbow ligament, and doctors on April 19 ordered him not to throw for three weeks. He hasn't had to test his arm yet, though.
After playing all nine innings at first base in Friday's 8-1 victory, Pujols played left field on Saturday. He was lifted for Miguel Cairo after six innings.
Jim Edmonds was 2-for-4 with a double for the Cardinals, raising his NL-leading average to .405.
