YOUNGSTOWN -- "2010 Moving Ahead: A Forum for Reporting Progress," a live broadcast of a community meeting at 8 p.m. May 14 in YSU's Kilcawley Center Chestnut Room, will be carried simultaneously by PBS Channels 45 & amp; 49 and WYSU-FM Radio 88.5. The meeting will begin with an overview of the Youngstown 2010 plan, which addresses the city's economic, developmental and cultural needs and goals. Speakers, including YSU President David C. Sweet and Youngstown Community Development Agency Director Jay Williams, will discuss the status of projects already under way.
This will be the first of quarterly broadcasts on Youngstown 2010, says PBS producer and director Jeremiah G. Blaylock.
Slide guitarist to perform
YOUNGSTOWN -- Indian slide guitarist Barun Kumar Pal, a senior disciple of famous musician Ravi Shankar, will perform at 2 p.m. May 18 in McDonough Museum of Art at Youngstown State University. Admission is $10. Pal was born in Bangladesh, son of a sitar player, and has studied Hawaiian guitar and Indian classical music since he was a young boy.
Tribute to Louis Prima
NILES -- Lena Prima remembers her father in her musical tribute "Louis Prima, That's My Dad!", which she'll perform May 23 at McMenamy's, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road. Lena and her band will perform some of Louis Prima's hits and other jazz songs. It's a multimedia presentation, including video of his performances on the Ed Sullivan TV show and family photos.

Youth acting classes
WARREN -- Summer Stock 26 is offering children's acting classes and teen comedy improv classes in the evenings during June and July. Each class will meet once a week for eight weeks. Cost is $30. Feldman broadcast set
AKRON -- A live broadcast of Michael Feldman's "Whad'Ya Know?" will be presented by WKSU-89.7 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 at Akron Civic Theatre on Main Street.
The program will adopt a regional Northeast Ohio flavor and include regular features such as "All the News That Isn't," the "Whad'Ya Know? Quiz" and special guest interviews.

Area native in film
Actress Kady Douglas, a k a Boardman native Karen Davis, has a role in a short film that has been making the film festival rounds. Douglas plays a wife and mother in "It Just Is," a story about a family's dinner with a stranger who they believe is God. It was shown last week at Black Point Film Festival in Lake Geneva, Wis. and International Family Film Festival (formerly the Santa Clarita Film Festival) in Valencia, Calif.
Douglas, a 1975 graduate of Boardman High School, lives in Seattle, where she is host and segment producer of a cable TV program about theater in the Pacific Northwest.
Show by Poland graduate
Add writer and producer of musicals to Alexis Fedor's list of accomplishments. Fedor, formerly of Poland, co-wrote, produced, choreographed and performed in "Karaoke: A New Cabaret Comedy," which had its opening in April at Wax Theater in Brooklyn, N.Y. Fedor, who also is a professional yoga instructor, graduated in 1992 from Poland Seminary High School and in 1997 from Ohio University. She earned a master's degree in dance in 2001 at New York University.
