CANFIELD -- Dan Pecchia, vice president of Innis Maggiore Group, has been named to the board of directors of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute. Pecchia, who heads the company's Youngstown-area office in Canfield, will serve as the chapter's membership chairman.
Innis Maggiore Group is an advertising and public relations firm which also has offices in Canton and Pittsburgh, Pa.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Milan Puskar, a Youngstown State University alumna, was to be presented an honorary doctorate of science degree from the Mylan School of Pharmacy at Duquesne University this weekend.
Puskar is co-founder and chairman of the board of Pittsburgh-based Mylan Laboratories, Inc., one of the world's largest manufacturers of generic pharmaceuticals.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Don's Drywall of Youngstown was recognized with an honorable mention in the 2002 Excellence in Gypsum Board Design and Construction awards program sponsored by the Gypsum Association in Washington, D.C. The company was recognized for its work on a Canfield residential building project. Joe Battista of Struthers was the builder.
BOARDMAN -- Gretchen Julian of Boardman was recently named administrator of the year by Kent State University's Department of Recreational Services. Julian joined KSU three years ago as assistant director for facilities and aquatics at Kent State. She has a master's degree in education from Youngstown State University.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Atty. James B. Dietz, a partner in the law firm of Friedman & amp; Rummell Co., has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law. He is one of only 80 attorneys in Ohio earn the designation. A Cardinal Mooney High School graduate, Dietz has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Dayton and a law degree from the University of Toledo. He lives in Canfield.
CAMPBELL -- John A. Petracci of Campbell was installed as a trustee of the Ohio Pharmacists Association. A graduate of Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy, Petracci is pharmacist and owner of Independent Pharmacy Groups, Inc.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Hollie Kozak, sports medicine coordinator for Humility of Mary Health Partners, was recently selected as Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association Clinical and Industrial Athletic Trainer of the year. Kozak, who lives in Euclid, has a bachelor's degree in sports administration and athletic training from Baldwin-Wallace College and a master's degree in sports medicine from the University of Akron. She joined HMHP four years ago.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Joseph J. DePascale, vice president of Sky Trust Retirement Plan Services in the Pennsylvania region, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Bankers Association 401(k), Employee Benefit and Corporate Services Committee. A graduate of Youngstown State University, DePascale is also a certified public accountant and a certified financial planner.
WARREN -- Mike Filarski, senior vice president of mortgage lending and servicing at Second National Bank, has accepted an appointment to the Freddie Mac Community Lender Advisory Board. Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress to increase the supply of money available to mortgage lenders, and the board is a forum for construction dialogue between the corporation and its customers.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Jewelers of America has awarded Thomas F. Cox, shop manager of King's Jewelry in New Castle, Pa., the designation of JA Certified Master Bench Jeweler. Cox is the fifth bench jeweler in Pennsylvania and the 106th nationwide to earn the designation. Cox graduated from Riverside High School in Ellwood City, Pa., and completed a two-year apprenticeship in the jewelry business. Custom jewelry design is his specialty.
BROOKFIELD -- Kelly L. Carrier, a Brookfield resident and principal of Smith Evans Carrier Valuation Advisory Services, was awarded the designation of Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers. Carrier, a 1990 graduate of Grove City College, is also a certified financial planner. Smith Evans Carrier has offices in Pittsburgh and Sharon, Pa.
