Leadership conference
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will present a leadership conference, "Advancing the Kingdom in this Present Age," from Thursday through next Saturday at Fifth Avenue Community Church. The speaker is the Rev. Duane Tisdale, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Toledo
There will be classes and activities for children age 5 through 16. On Thursday and Friday, there will be activities from 6-6:45 p.m. followed by worship at 7 p.m. Next Saturday, there will be events from 9-10:30 a.m. and a service at 10:45 a.m.
Funds collected
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown has collected a total of $4,652 since March in two funds to help meet the needs of military families and to support reconstruction and relief in Iraq. The funds are the Catholic Charities Fund for Military Families In War and CRS-Humanitarian Relief Fund. Donations may be send to either fund, in care of the diocese, 144 W. Wood St., Youngstown, Ohio 44503.
Spiritual, diet programs
BOARDMAN -- The Boardman Seventh-day Adventist Church is having two events, including "The Story of the Cross" at 6:30 p.m. today.
The church will also feature a Meatout Health Seminar in the church social hall from 4-7 p.m. May 18. The cost is $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Seating is limited. Reservations should be made by May 14. Call (330) 799-6749.
Quartet to perform
LIBERTY -- The Rising Sound Quartet will perform at 7 p.m. May 17 at Church Hill United Methodist Church. The group consists of tenor Ernie Haase, lead singer Shane Dunlap, baritone Doug Anderson, bass Tim Duncan and pianist Garry Jones. The doors open at 6 p.m.

Benefit concert
BOARDMAN -- The local Christian vocal group Voices for Him will perform a praise concert benefit for Care Net Pregnancy Center of Mahoning Valley. The concert will be at 7 p.m. May 10 at The Boardman United Methodist Church. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
14th anniversary
NILES -- Valley Baptist Church will be honoring Pastor Larry S. Scott's 14th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Curtis Mentor, of Shiloh Baptist Church in Akron, will deliver the message.
Journeymen concert
CARROLTON -- The Journeymen Quartet of Shepherdsville, Ky., will present a concert of Southern gospel music at the Carrollton Bible Chapel at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Singer from Warren
NILES -- Tia Ciferno, a Christian singer and songwriter from Warren, will present a program at 4 p.m. May 18 at Southside Presbyterian Church.
46th anniversary
WARREN -- Coleman Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will celebrate its 46th anniversary in May.
A prayer breakfast is from 9 a.m.-noon today at the ACOP community center. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children. The main speaker will be Paula Rand from Pioneer Missionary Baptist in West Farmington.
Sunday a communion worship will be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Phillips of Bethel CME in Canton. At 3:30 p.m., there will be a service at Rebecca Williams Community Center with Pastor Avan Odam of New Fellowship Baptist Church in Warren.
On Mother's Day, a breakfast will be served by the men.
May 18 is Recognition Sunday at 11 a.m. with Coleman's former pastor, the Rev. Lauren Jones of Youngstown, as the speaker. Coleman Chapel's pastor, the Rev. Loretta Pernice, will speak at 3:30 p.m. May 18 at Rebecca Williams.
A family and friends day worship and picnic will be at 11 a.m. May 22 at Packard Park.
Pilgrimage offered
YOUNGSTOWN -- St. Joseph's Ladies Guild and Marion Movement of Austintown will sponsor a pilgrimage June 1 to St. Anthony Shrine in Pittsburgh. The trip includes Mass at Most Holy Name of Jesus Church in Pittsburgh. The $27 cost includes a buffet dinner. Make reservations by May 20. Call (330) 792-9263.
