Lane restrictions planned for work at Pa. Turnpike's Gateway toll plaza
ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. -- Traffic restrictions are planned for Monday just east of the Gateway toll plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Ohio line as crews continue a project to erect overhead signs that will serve motorists leaving and coming onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Single-lane patterns for eastbound and westbound traffic on the turnpike, which is also Interstate 76, will be in effect from about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The one-lane-each-direction configuration will cover about three-quarters of a mile.
There will be two instances on Monday in which westbound traffic will be stopped for up to 15 minutes. The first will be in late morning and the second early in the afternoon .
The schedule is subject to change because of weather conditions.
The commission is erecting eight new overhead signs in the area. Four will serve westbound traffic approaching the Gateway plaza from the east. Four will serve eastbound traffic approaching from the west.
The sign work is to conclude before Memorial Day.
