Hiking near Cleveland
A new edition of a local hiking guide, "Beyond Cleveland on Foot," makes it easier for Greater Clevelanders to take a hike. Pat Cameron and Rob and Peg Bobel have updated this guide to 58 hikes in seven counties surrounding Greater Cleveland, including Hogback Ridge & amp; Historic Painesville (Lake County), Whitlam Woods (Geauga County), Cascade Locks (Summit County), Tinkers Creek State Nature Preserve Portage County), Allardale & amp; Historic Medina (Medina County) and Elyrias Cascade Park (Lorain County).
The guide is by Gray & amp; Company, Publishers, whose Web site is www.grayco.com. The book costs $15.95.
East Liverpool event
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Westgate Culture Club will host a poetry forum featuring the works of Arab-American author Naomi Shihab Nye at 8 p.m. May 20 at Westgate Library. Shihab Nye is author or editor of numerous poetry anthologies and novels. Her newest book is "19 Varieties of Gazelle: Poems of the Middle East" published by Greenwillow Books. She lives in San Antonio.
An open forum will precede the reading and discussion of Shihab Nye's poetry. Local authors are encouraged to read their original poems in the open forum. All participants must be scheduled in advance.
