LORDSTOWN -- A Trumbull Career and Technical Center student earned a first-place state award at a recent Business Professionals of America state contest.
Morgan Yanczura placed first in the digital media productions category and moved on to "My Time to Shine," the BPA 2003 National Leadership Conference in Dallas that started Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
Also competing at the national competition are Jessica Thornton, who placed second in Ohio in the state in the banking and finance category; and Daryl Parks, who placed fourth in the state in advanced accounting.
The students join 5,000 other conference delegates from across the country.
BPA is a national organization that encourages collaboration between education, business and industry.
Morgan is in the Interpretive Media class of John Bagnola, who is the local BPA chapter adviser. Jessica and Daryl are in the computer business management class of Bobbe Isabella.
Among TCTC students, 34 competed in the state competition after earning regional awards. Of the 34, 12 finished in the top 10 of their categories.
