DOCTORS
New optometrist
Rebecca Jean Williamson of Salem was awarded a doctor of optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, Memphis, Tenn.
She served as treasurer of the Gold Key Society and was selected for inclusion in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." Dr. Williamson is the daughter of Paul and Janet Williamson of Salem, and a 1998 graduate of John Carroll University.
Osteopath from Poland
Christopher Fox, son of Jim and Linda Fox of Poland, received his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Fox, a 1994 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, attended Kent State University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in zoology. He will do his residency in general psychiatry at University Hospitals in Cleveland.
Doing residency at St. E's
Jeffrey W. Kempe, a son of William and Donna Kempe of Boardman, has earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten of the Netherlands Antilles.
While in medical school, Dr. Kempe earned a master of medical science degree and was elected into the Alpha Omega Phi honor society. He also completed a year of school in England. He is a 1995 Cardinal Mooney High School graduate and earned his bachelor's degree with honor from John Carroll University, Cleveland.
He begins a residency in internal medicine in July at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.
LAWYERS
Boardman graduate
Mark Jon Miller, a 1996 Boardman High School graduate, recently received his juris doctorate from Capital University Law School in Columbus, where he graduated with highest honors.
While at Capital, Miller was an associate editor of his school's Law Review and a teaching assistant for legal writing and research.
He was awarded a Presidential Merit scholarship for outstanding academic performance and also received awards in the study of torts, civil procedure, jurisdiction, constitutional law, evidence and employment discrimination. Miller graduated with highest honors from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, in 2000 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science and public affairs. Miller is employed by Shaw, Zolman & amp; Associates in Columbus. His parents are Wayne and Karyn Miller of Boardman.
Cincinnati practice
Aleshia Politsky, daughter of Amy and David Politsky of Warren, recently was sworn in as a new attorney by the justices of the Ohio Supreme Court after passing the Ohio bar exam. Politsky received a juris doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and maintains a private practice in Cincinnati.
SCOUTS
Christopher Carach, son of Herman and Patricia Carach of Austintown, earned his Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouting's highest honor.
Chris began scouting at 7 when he joined a Tiger Cub Den at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. The next year, he moved on to Cub Scouts with Troop 84 of Austintown Community Church. After earning his Arrow of Light Award in 1995, he joined Scout Troop 75, which meets at the Saxon Club.
His Eagle Scout project consisted of planting a bed of daylilies on a hillside in the Austintown Township Park.
Chris, 18, has held various offices in his troop including quartermaster, historian and senior patrol leader. He is assistant scoutmaster.
He earned 23 merit badges and the five-year Pipestone Award at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation, the camp's highest honor. He participated in a weeklong canoe trip on Ontario's French River and backpacked a portion of the Appalachian Trail in the Shenandoah National Park.
He is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where he plays keyboard with the church's contemporary music group.
He recently graduated as one of the valedictorians at Fitch High School and plans to attend Case Western Reserve University.
