When it comes to weather, 2003 has been a wacky year. Some areas of the United States experienced an unusual amount of snow in the winter, while other areas have had a surprisingly wet spring. Annenberg/CPB's Weather Web site (www.learner.org/exhibits/weather) explains the forces that affect the weather and why the weather is so hard to predict.
The site does a good job of making a complex subject easier to understand. Articles on topics such as the water cycle and ozone depletion are explained in such a way that you don't have to be a science whiz to follow them. The descriptions are concise and well structured, and as you go through the site, you learn to appreciate the scope of the planet's climate.
The Weather site also includes activities where you see what it's like to be a weather forecaster.
