Warren woman, 24, to stand trial in robberies

WARREN -- A July 14 trial date is scheduled for a 24-year-old woman accused of aggravated robbery.
Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court set the trial date Wednesday for Jivonne Young, who is facing nine counts of aggravated robbery and one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer. She is being held in the county jail.
The trial was set after Judge McKay ruled that Young is competent to stand trial. Three mental health experts examined Young and determined that she is able to assist in her own defense.
In January, Young, of Kenwood Drive, was found incompetent to stand trial. Court records stated that she suffered from audio hallucinations and was mentally ill.
In February, however, doctors at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare Systems, an in-house mental health facility, said Young was able to understand the charges pending against her, and to assist in her defense. A month later, Atty. Brandon Keating, who represents Young, asked the judge for the experts to examine Young again.
Police say Young robbed numerous places in Warren and Champion last summer.
