XDAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. -- The wedding of Jean Marie Giering and Dr. Lee Douglass Roberson took place at 6 p.m. May 24 at First Union Church.
The Rev. Russell Freeman officiated for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Giering, 3415 Maple Spring Drive, Canfield, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Roberson, Florence, Ala. A reception followed at Daufuskie Island Resort Island House.
The couple spent their honeymoon in Aruba and live at 509 Winterburn Ave., Opelika, Ala.
An ivory strapless sheath gown was worn by the bride, who was given in marriage by her father. It was enhanced with a crystals, pearls and a lace overlay, and was designed with a corset back closure.
Andrea Bozigar of Hudson was maid of honor, and bridesmaid was Paula Purdy of Birmingham, Ala. They wore black gowns.
The groom's father performed the duties of best man, and his brother, William Roberson Jr., was groomsman. The bride's cousin, Kevin St. Clair, was usher.
Mrs. Roberson is a cum laude graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
Her husband holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Auburn University and a medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He did a general surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at University Hospitals in Cleveland. He is a cardiothoracic surgeon at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
