INSTALLATION Downtown Lions Club seats slate of officers



The new officers will begin their terms Tuesday.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Downtown Youngstown Lions Club held installation of officers at a noon luncheon buffet June 19 at the Youngstown Club.
The chapter, one of 44,600 in 190 countries, inducted Jeffrey A. Patterson as president.
Patterson graduated from Youngstown State University with bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. He is fiscal director of the Youngstown Area Community Action Council and is a certified public accountant and certified community action professional. He is a member of the Young Men's Christian Association, United States Handball Association, Ohio High School Athletic Association, National Federation Officials Association, Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, Mahoning Valley Basketball Officials Association and Mahoning Valley Volleyball Officials Association.
Installed as his associate officers were John R. Getchy, first vice president; Josie A. Polis, second vice president; Diane Hardenbrook, treasurer; and Robert J. Iacobucci, secretary. Also seated as members of the board of directors were William G. Addington III, Parker T. McHenry, John S. Reed, Bryan K. Reed, Roger Guglicello, Douglas G. Lewis, Stephen J. Bukovac, Peter J. Storey and Michele M. Ballone. Jerry M. Bryan is immediate past president. Their terms will begin Tuesday.
Special guests
District 13-D Governor David Rice attended along with his wife and administered the oaths of office. He also presented the International President's Bronze Certificate to John Callos for sponsoring new members and the Melvin E. Jones Fellowship Award to Addington. That award is given in recognition of a commitment to humanitarian work.
The event was planned, organized and hosted by Getchey and Patty Atwood.
McHenry served as toastmaster.
Chartered Oct. 11, 1920, the chapter's primary mission is to become the "Knights of the Blind" with the motto, "We Serve." Meetings are held at noon each Thursday at the Youngstown Club. Guests and potential members are welcome.
