MAHONING COUNTY
Boardman: U.S. Army Field Bank Jazz Ambassadors at 8 p.m. Saturday in township park, with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Maag Outdoor Arts Theatre. Concessions available. Bring lawn chairs.
Poland: A fireworks display at Baird-Mitchell Field on Cortland Street (behind Poland Village Town Hall) on Thursday at dusk. Rain date is Friday. Sponsored by Poland Forum.
Canfield: Canfield Lions Club fireworks at 10 p.m. Thursday at Canfield Fairgrounds. Gates open at 4 p.m. with many activities available for the entire family. "Elvis in Me" show by Ronnie Navarra will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $10 per car. Rain date is Friday.
Friday's events include Firecracker Four Mile Run, Kid's Foot Race, Get Out and Push, Canfield Community Band, magic show and Youngstown Symphonic Band. Parade begins at 10:10 a.m. and marches from the fairgrounds to the green.
North Jackson: Jackson Township Founder's Day begins at 10 a.m. Friday with a parade at the high school. Picnic, 12:30 p.m., in Liberty Park with continuous activities from 1 to 8 p.m., including bands, a car show, historical displays, cloggers, games, baseball tournament, lumberjack spectacular, art contest, beard contest, clowns, vocal groups and karaoke.
Austintown: Friday events begin at 8:30 a.m. with ecumenical services at Austin Log Cabin. The parade starts at 2 p.m. at Kirk Road and moves north on Raccoon Road to Fitch High School. Stadium activities begin at 8:30 p.m. with fireworks at dusk by B.J. Alan.
Saturday's annual Picnic in the Park is from noon to 5 p.m. in the township park on Kirk Road and will include a craft show, car show, entertainment, baseball game, face painting, pony rides and hot-dog eating contest.
Struthers: The Struthers Business Association sponsors "Celebrate America" with a parade beginning at noon Friday at Struthers Plaza at Fifth Street and Manor Avenue.
Struthers Day at Mauthe Park, 156 Smithfield St., will be July 6, sponsored by Consumer Ohio Water Company and concluding with fireworks at 10 p.m. at Cene Baseball Complex.
TRUMBULL COUNTY
McDonald: The 69th firemen's festival is Wednesday through Saturday on the village green at Fifth and Ohio avenues.
Wednesday's parade begins at 6 p.m., moving from the north end of Ohio Avenue to Marshall Road.
Preceding the parade at 5:30 will be & quot;Run for the Mill. & quot; Runners will go from the south end of Ohio Avenue to the former U.S. Steel mill.
Rides will start after the parade and go until 11 p.m. each night and bingo starts each night at 7 p.m.
Family Night is Thursday, starting at 6 p.m., featuring discounted ride rates.
A deejay will be at the fire station in the municipal building on Ohio Avenue, starting at 7 p.m. Friday.
Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. in Ramsey Pavilion on the village green. Children's games will follow the breakfast.
Fireworks are set for 11 p.m. Saturday.
Howland: "Our American Idols" celebration begins at 10 a.m. Friday.
Registration for the 5K walk/run starts at 7 a.m. at the football field; the race is at 8 a.m..
Lineup for the parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Hunter Woods Plaza on East Market Street and will travel to Howland High School.
A children's bicycle parade is at 10 a.m. Lineup for that event begins at 9:30 a.m. at Cord Camera on East Market Street.
After the parades, there will be a car show and a pet show, food, games and entertainment behind the high school.
Festivities at Howland Township Park begin at 4:30 p.m.

Niles: Parade starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, with the lineup at 6 p.m. The theme is "First in Flight."
U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th, is grand marshal. Parade starts at the Speedway gas station at Federal Street and Vienna Avenue and moves through the downtown area, ending near the fire station on East State Street.
Street Fest on State Street is Thursday from 6 p.m. to midnight. Road Work will perform from 7 to 11. Concessions, games and bingo will be available at the Niles Senior Center.
Festival continues from 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Night Owl will perform from 4 to 8 Friday, followed by the Blue Jays from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Frank Gal will perform from 7 to 11 Saturday.
Warren: W.D. Packard Concert Band's "July 4th Spectacular," featuring vocalist Dana Victor, will be at 8 p.m. Friday outside W.D. Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. N.W.
The free program will include patriotic and popular music, including the "1812 Overture" and John Philip Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever."
Fireworks will be after the concert.
Newton Falls: Parade at 10 a.m. Friday, starting at Broad Street downtown. Music will be from 2 to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight at the city park. Fireworks will be at 10 p.m.
There will also be music at the park from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sonic Age from 7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday and Santa Fe from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Mesopotamia: Annual ox roast at state routes 87 and 534, featuring antiques market and flea market, roast beef sandwiches and fries; Friday, Saturday and July 6. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 each morning at the fire station, hosted by the Bloomfield-Mespo cheerleaders, live entertainment daily.
Horseshoe tournament Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m., registration is at noon at the ball field.
COLUMBIANA COUNTY
Salem: A free public fireworks display is set for dusk Saturday at Waterworth Memorial Park.
Councilwoman Mary Lou Popa, D-1st, an organizer of the event, explained that it's less costly having the display the day after the holiday.
On the Fourth, there will be a parade at 10:30 a.m. that will feature bicycles, wagons and baby buggies decorated by children. At 11:30 a.m. will be a pet parade.
Both parades will be downtown on Broadway Avenue between Pershing and State streets.
Columbiana: "A Community Celebration" from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. includes a fishing contest, pet show, family games and activities, canoe race, watermelon-eating contest, ice-cream eating contest, calliope concert, sky divers, Canfield Community Band, flag ceremony, 50/50 raffle. It closes with fireworks at Firestone Park at 10 p.m.
Concessions will be provided by American Legion and Columbiana Music Boosters from 11 a.m. to dusk.
Corporate sponsors are: Ace Hardware, Columbiana and Middleton; Columbiana Medical Center, M.E. Supply and Village Plaza Sparkle Market.
East Palestine: Events begin with a breakfast at the community center from 9 to 11 a.m. and continue during the day with pet and bike parades, games for all ages, duck derby, horse chip bingo, basketball free throw, sky divers, a light parade at dusk and conclude with fireworks at the park at approximately 10 p.m.
MERCER COUNTY
Greenville: Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce and Greenville Area Leisure Services will host a holiday celebration Thursday at Riverside Park. There will be food, entertainment by "Pipe Dreams" at 7 p.m. and fireworks at dusk.
New Wilmington: An old-fashioned Independence Day celebration will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Brittain Lake at Westminster College.
Veterans Memorial Pipers Band from Meadville will open the celebration. River City Brass Band of Pittsburgh will play patriotic, religious, folk and popular music. Other performers will be Veterans Memorial Pipers Band from Greenville; and New Life Baptist Church Singers.
The event will conclude with fireworks by Pyrotecnico.
Grove City: The annual Paddle-Pedal-Hoof Relay is at 3 p.m. Friday, followed by a community patriotic program at 8 p.m. and fireworks by Pyrotecnico at 10 p.m.
Mercer: Mercer Community Band concert featuring vocalist Beth Malys and trumpeter William Pittman at 7:30 p.m. Friday on courthouse square. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Accordionist Johnny Oaks will perform at 6:30 p.m. Mercer County Band Boosters will hold an ice-cream social at 6 p.m.
In case of rain, the concert will be in Mercer High School auditorium.
