Hubbard board OKs pacts for school officials



HUBBARD -- The school board approved four-year contracts for Superintendent James Herrholtz at $83,000 annually and treasurer Phillip Butto IV at $62,500 annually.
Herrholtz's contract takes effect in August and Butto's in January.
Also Monday, the board awarded a $161,280 contract to N & amp;J Excavating of Hubbard for grading and drainage work at the stadium. The project is to be done by Aug. 15.
The following coaches were hired for the new school year: Patricia Wirtz, girls swimming, $3,980; Nathan Gray, junior varsity boys soccer, $2,653; Krysteena Wylie, seventh- and eighth-grade girls soccer, $2,123; Tammy Newel, junior varsity girls soccer, $2,653; and Amanda Perline, Reed cheerleader adviser, $2,123.
The board approved the purchase of the social studies series "History Alive" for kindergarten through sixth grade at $24,840 and math texts at a total cost of $41,864.
The board donated an old bus to the fire department for fire and rescue personnel to use for accident training.
Current enrollment was announced as follows: Roosevelt Elementary, 747; Reed Middle, 733; high school, 841.
