Former member is appointed to New Castle board

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- With three people seeking a vacant spot on the New Castle Area Schools board of education, board members decided to appoint someone who previously had served.
On Monday, David Domenick, 42, of Virginia Avenue was appointed to fill the term left vacant by Thomas DiMuccio, who moved out of the district. DiMuccio resigned June 11.
Domenick was sworn in after the vote.
School board members did not name the other two applicants seeking the post.
Domenick, a professional financial adviser, served on the board of education from 1999 to 2001 and did not seek re-election when his term ended.
He said he chose to apply for DiMuccio's vacant seat because he is familiar with the district and its ongoing $30 million high school construction project.
Other board members cited his experience as a financial planner.
"I think David can step right in on the budget and know what is going on," said Frank Bonfield, board member.
All board members present at the special meeting voted for Domenick. Board member Andrea Przybylski was absent.
