From Cafaro Field
Injury update: Scrappers shortstop Brett Parker is day-to-day after being hit by a pitch Friday night. Parker injured his thumb when Auburn's Danny Core struck him with a pitch. "He could hold the bat today, and he hit," manager Ted Kubiak said, "but he can't throw." Jesus Colmenter took Parker's place at shortstop Saturday and Sunday.
Eat fresh: The first hit Chad Durbin allowed in his first start last week in Batavia banged off a Subway sign at Dwyer Stadium. The first hit he allowed Sunday, to Auburn's A.J. Porfirio, banged off the Subway sign in left field at Cafaro Field. Both hits resulted in doubles.
Attendance drop-off: The Scrappers drew 5,800 fans for their home opener Friday night. On Saturday, the attendance mark dipped to 2,600 before 3,640 showed up Sunday afternoon.
Pitching match-ups: The Scrappers will complete their home-stand with two games against the Batavia Muckdogs, beginning tonight. Left-hander Randy Perez (0-0, 4.50 ERA) will make his second start of the season against Batavia right-hander Julio De La Cruz (0-1). Perez did not play last season after suffering from tendinitis in his throwing shoulder. On Tuesday, the Scrappers will throw 19-year-old right-hander T.J. Burton against Batavia right-hander Vinny Dichristafaro (0-1).
Promotion: The first 1,000 fans through the gates tonight will receive an Indians prospect card featuring former Scrapper Ben Francisco, who was the New York-Penn League's batting champion last season.
