LISBON -- Village council has approved water and sewer services to the new county court to be built on Saltwell Road, provided the property is annexed to the village.
County Judges Robert Roberts and Mark Frost asked council for the services Monday, as the deal for the land acquisition is about to be finalized
Both judges indicated they wanted to comply with the wishes of the village in regard to annexation, noting that if the village did not want the annexation, an easement across the road from the property would allow for services without annexation.
Council said it would prefer the property be annexed to the village and agreed to provide the services.
Increased traffic
In a related matter, the judges noted they expect increased traffic on Saltwell Road once the court is open.
Since part of the road is in the village, and part is in Center Township, the judges wondered if the two communities could work together to seek funding for improvements.
Judge Roberts indicated county fair board officials would cooperate with such a project also, since Saltwell Road serves as a major access to the fairgrounds.
Mayor Jeff Snyder noted the village has already planned some drainage work for the area and agreed that road improvements would be something the village would be in favor of pursuing.
In other matters, council learned the Sadie P. VanFossan pool will probably open by week's end.
Repairs have been completed and the pool is to be filled today.
Council also approved the Lisbon Little Blue Devils Booster Club as the concession stand operators for the summer season.
