Botanical name: Lilium regale "Album."

Botanical name: Lilium regale "Album."
Attributes: A very fragrant, disease-resistant and easy-to-grow lily. The flowers, which form seed pods that add winter interest in the garden, adorn elegant tall stems of fine-textured, slender leaves that turn golden yellow in the fall.
Bloom color: White.
Bloom time: June.
Culture: Plant bulbs 6 inches deep in spring or fall as available or purchase container-grown stock for planting whenever the ground is workable. Bulbs should be planted in rich, well-drained soil. Water only as needed until the plants are established -- white regal lily is very drought-tolerant. Remove spent flowers to improve plant vigor, although this is not always necessary on vigorous plantings and destroys the seed pods.
Landscaping tips: Plant white regal lily at the back of the perennial border for its tall form and fragrant flowers. Plant later-blooming trumpet and Oriental lilies in front of them for bloom later through the summer. White regal lily is perfect in fragrance, evening and moon gardens. Wonderful companion plants include artemisias, white rose campion, Missouri primrose, purple poppy mallow, corn poppies, Verbena bonariensis and Nearly Wild and other shrub roses.
Cost: Bulbs usually cost about $2 each; a gallon container plant is about $8.
