Becdir rallies for 8-7 victory



The winners scored four times in the bottom of the seventh.
STRUTHERS -- Becdir rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Lazart 8-7 in the Class B League Wednesday at Cene Park.
Becdir (11-12) moved into a tie for fifth place and a tie with Wharmby for the final spot in the Connie Mack state tournament.
Luke Srock had two hits, including the game-winning single, while Billy Bowes and Shaun McDonald had two hits each for Becdir.
For Lazart (10-13), Travis Garrett had three hits while Rick DiMuzio, Dan Deluca, and Mark Such had two hits each.
Astro Falcons 16, Wharmby 2
Astros (18-5) scored nine times in the first and seven times in the second inning.
Dan Leonard had three hits, including a triple to lead the 14-hit attack.
Frank Turocy, Bill Christian and Mike Pulakos had two hits each for the winners.
For Wharmby (11-12), Dustin Kulka had an RBI single.
Line Drive Academy 6, Livi Steel 5
Line Drive (20-3) moved out to a 6-2 advantage, then held on for the win its 20th game.
Justin Byler (4-0) went the first sixth innings for the win while John Mang picked up his first save. Mang allowed one earned run while striking out four. Chris Tremblay and Byler had two hits each for the winners.
For Livi Steel (16-7), Steve Procner threw a complete game allowing no earned runs. He had two strikeouts. Sean Lucas, Steve Orlosky, Shawn Carr and Drew Mullee had two hits each.
Rondinelli 13,Youngstown Propane 4
Rondinelli rallied from a 4-0 first inning deficit to stay tied with Astros for second place (18-5).
Rick Banna (5-0) came on in relief for Rondinelli with no outs in the first inning and went the rest of the way. He allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out nine and also had three hits, including a double.
Gary Bucuren had three hits, including a double and a single, while Gabe McKee and Scott Bender had two hits each for the winners.
Losing pitcher Aaron Brest (0-2) had two hits for Propane (1-22)
Youngstown Express 9,Roth Brothers 4
Nick Getsy and Nick Pica had three hits each for the Express (3-20).
Getsy added a double and three RBIs as Dan Monico (1-2) pitched the first five innings for the win. Monico allowed no earned runs and struck out four.
For Roth, (7-16) Steve Ripple had three hits, including a double.
B.B. Rooners 11,Wadsworth Grizzlies 6
WARREN -- Mike Price, Donnie Morris and Andy Todor each had two hits for B.B. Rooners (28-5). Jeff Hehr and Ned Moore both had doubles, while Morris and Sam Mann had two RBIs each.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Jeff Gruber homered and doubled, driving in four runs, to lead Roth Brothers to an 11-0 victory over Jolly Joe's in a game at Oakland Field.
Joe Bettura added three hits for Roth Brothers, while Sean Wardle, Rick Gozur and Matt Kopacz all singled twice, and Barry Wardle doubled. Mike Hosterman struck out 12 and allowed two hits in a complete-game performance.
Shane Davis and Jared Bogan singled for Jolly Joe's.
