Wharmby's fast start leads to 10-5 victory over Roth Brothers



STRUTHERS -- Greg Mentrek collected three hits, including a double, as Wharmby Sports defeated Roth Brothers 10-5 in the Class B Baseball League at Cene Park.
Mentrek also pitched the first five innings and allowed just three hits.
Wharmby led 3-0 in the first, 5-0 in third and 8-3 after five.
Pat Oman added a triple and a double with two RBIs for the winners.
Astro Falcons 13, Line Drive 5
Astro Falcons broke away from a 3-3 tie as it scored five times in the fourth inning, then added four more in the sixth.
Michael Pulakos led the Falcons with two hits and Dave Yost worked five innings to pick up the win. Mike Eliseo hit a triple for Line Drive.
Roth Brothers 12, Youngstown Express 3
Ahead 6-3, Roth Brothers put the game out of reach as it scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Adam DeFord went 4-for-5, which included two doubles, and he drove in three runs for Roth Brothers. Joe McCrackin also went 4-for-5, with two RBIs.
Becdir 4, Youngstown Express 3
Becdir got the deciding run in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Billy Bowes hit a triple for the winners. Jacob Wycoff tripled and Tony Rossodivata doubled for Youngstown Express.
