YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are investigating a warehouse break-in that left one city business without its tools. An employee of Environmental Equipment discovered two pressure washers, a chain saw and various electrical equipment missing from the company's Crescent Street warehouse Friday afternoon. A door on the south side of the building was open and a vent cover on the west wall had been kicked in, the report states.
South Side gunfire
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are searching for a man who fired three shots at a car stopped at an intersection on the city's South Side about 3:30 p.m. Friday. A 21-year-old man was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Warren Avenue and Summer Street when a man he recognized fired three rounds from a handgun at him. One of the shots struck the driver's-side mirror of his 1988 Plymouth Horizon. The victim told police he fled, stopping to call 911 from a home on South Avenue, but was unable to wait for a cruiser. The victim filed the report four hours later.
Rainbow Rentals donates
YOUNGSTOWN -- Rainbow Rentals, headquartered in Canfield, has donated six couches and three coffee tables for the lobby of Tod Hall. Michael A. Pecchia, chief financial officer and secretary for the company, is a 1982 Youngstown State University graduate. Tod Hall houses the offices of the president and administrators, as well as marketing, student affairs and others. Established in 1986, Rainbow is the fourth largest chain in the nearly $5 billion rental-purchase industry and the market leader in annual revenue per store.
No-tilling field day
BUTLER, Pa. -- Farmers are invited to a field day for those with an interest in reduced tillage or no-till management July 15 at the Norman Graham farm in Connoquenessing. Joel Myers, state agronomist with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, will be a featured speaker. Topics include slug and weed management, evaluating soil quality and improving soil conditions. The event will begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. There is an $8 fee that includes lunch.
