NILES -- Spraying for mosquitoes is set to begin after 6 p.m. Wednesday. In case of rain, the alternate spray date is Thursday. Anyone with respiratory problems should stay inside with the windows closed. Food should not be prepared or left outside during the spraying, and all pets should be taken inside.
Phone-book recycling
WARREN -- The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will collect outdated phone books throughout July for recycling. Phone books can be dropped into a container at Wal-Mart, 2015 Elm Road at any time during the month. The container is marked for phone books only.
Air show is set
JEFFERSON -- The United States Aviation Museum in Willowick will present its eighth annual air show, "Gathering of Eagles," July 11-13 at Ashtabula County Airport in Jefferson. More than a dozen planes will be on display, including a B-17 Flying Fortress and a TBM Avenger torpedo bomber from World War II. There will be aircraft representing each era of U.S. air history beginning with World War I. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger get in free.
Outreach family fun
WARREN -- The Alliance Community Outreach Program and Trumbull County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance are sponsoring a Family Fellowship FUN-raiser from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 5. The event, at 2051 Niles Road S.E., includes food, music, poetry, mimes, games and a carwash by the pastors. Entry fee is $3 for adults and $2 for children. A blue-jean worship service begins at 5 p.m. July 6.
Airport fees increase
IMPERIAL, Pa. (AP) -- With airline traffic dropping, the Allegheny County Airport Authority increased landing fees and terminal rents at Pittsburgh International Airport. The new fees mean airlines' per-passenger costs at the airport will rise to $9.07, up from $7.59, on July 1. The authority uses most of that money to pay off $600 million in debt still owed on the airport, which opened a new terminal in 1992.
