COMPETITION
XSouthside Duplicate Bridge Club, 5500 Market St., Boardman, will hold a bridge-athon Saturday. The first session will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a barbecue with the second session beginning at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to attend at either time or for the entire day. FESTIVALS
XSts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 185 Laird Ave. N.E., Warren, will hold a strawberry festival from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. There also will be a book and rummage sale, children's games, drawings and entertainment. The menu will include sloppy joes, hot dogs and sauerkraut, potato and macaroni salad, strawberry shortcake, ice cream and beverages.
XSt. Joseph the Provider Church will hold its second annual summer festival Thursday through Sunday on the school grounds, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. The event will feature entertainment nightly along with rides, games, food and a Chinese auction.
FUND-RAISERS
XA rummage and bake sale is planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Idaho Road Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 250 Idaho Road, to raise money to benefit Joel Shields of Austintown. Funds will help pay for medical costs associated with Shields' treatment for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, a degenerative liver condition. He is awaiting a liver transplant. Rummage sale items will include clothing, toys, furniture, household goods and collectibles. For information call Heather Johnston, event coordinator, at (330) 746-8311.
RAFFLES
XYoungstown State University Association of Classified Employees will raffle footballs signed by Jim Tressel, Ohio State University head football coach, and Jon Heacock, YSU head football coach, to raise money for two new scholarships. Tickets are $1, or $5 for a pack of six. Winning tickets will be drawn July 3 at a special YSU-ACE chapter meeting. The winner need not be present. First prize includes footballs signed by Tressel and Heacock and a national championship OSU plaque. Second- and third-place winners will receive assorted sports memorabilia. SALES
XAlpha and Omega Ministries and Productions, 303 Robbins Ave., Niles, will host a barbecue and sale to celebrate the church's sixth anniversary from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Production office at 2504 Mahoning Ave., Warren.
