EAST LIVERPOOL -- Mel Creeley, president and CEO of East Liverpool City Hospital, received the Ohio Hospital Association's John Chapman Award, which recognizes excellence in initiating or supporting hospital pollution-prevention programs.
Among other things, Creeley initiated a mercury elimination project for ELCH; supported an effort to replace ethylene oxide with safer technology for sterilizing; as part of a construction project, advocated replacing emergency fuel-storage units with nonmetallic, double-wall tanking; and initiated a battery recycling program within the facility and bought green-formulation batteries as they became available.
HOPE VI health fair
FARRELL, Pa. -- UPMC Horizon, in partnership with Falbo-Pennrose Joint Venture and the Mercer County Housing Authority (MCHA), offers the HOPE VI Community Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the MCHA center, 211 Federal St.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties will celebrate the dedication and ribbon cutting for its Head Start Infants & amp; Toddlers Playspace at 299 Edwards St. at 1 p.m. Monday. Leadership Mahoning Valley Class of 2002 had the play space as its class project.
