BAZETTA -- Two boaters are being checked for hypothermia, after being pulled from Mosquito Lake after their boat capsized.
Park rangers learned about the capsized boat shortly after 9 a.m. today, when a fisherman ran into the office on state Route 305.
Initial reports indicate the men had been pulled into another fisherman's boat by the time rangers arrived.
Just trying to help family,girl calls 911 over bills
HUBBARD -- A 4-year-old Myron Street girl called 911 about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, trying to help her family.
Seems she wanted police to arrest the mail carrier so he'd stop delivering bills to her mother and grandmother.
After police and the girl's mother explained to her the error of her ways, the little one apologized to police.
Spraying for mosquitoes
LIBERTY -- Alexander's Pest Control will spray for mosquitoes in the township Monday and Tuesday from dusk to about 2 a.m. each day.
In the event of bad weather, the spraying will be done the next night.
Submissions for guide
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Convention and Visitors Bureau is accepting submissions of events and festivals to be included in a seasonal activity guide.
Deadline for inclusion in the fall guide is July 9.
Retired judge assignedto hear police chief's case
GIRARD -- A retired judge has been assigned by the Ohio Supreme Court to hear the case against Police Chief Anthony Ross.
Perry Dickinson, a retired municipal court judge in Portage County, is scheduled to hear the case here at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Municipal Judge Michael A. Bernard removed himself from the case.
Ross has been charged by Robert E. Suich, owner of the Dairy Queen on South State Street, with assault, a misdemeanor, and intimidation, a felony.
Suich has accused the chief of hitting him twice with Ross' city-owned car Feb. 24 in the Dairy Queen parking lot.
Meeting during fair
WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners will conduct their July 9 meeting at 10:30 a.m. on the historical stage of the Trumbull County fairgrounds during the annual fair.
Those attending the meeting should enter the fairgrounds through Gate C off Everett-Hull Road.
Martial arts academyraises funds for St. Jude's
NILES -- ATA Martial Arts Academy on Youngstown-Warren Road, has raised more than $1,000 for St. Jude Hospital.
Kick for a Cure featured 12 pupils performing tae kwon do. Participants recorded 8,136 kicks to raise $1,056.25.
Participants were chief instructor Keith A. Hoffman, Nicholas Vitale, Heather Barthelme, Arron Barthelme, Frankie Brown, David Irwin, Briana Radcliffe, Jessica Radcliffe, Colton Elser, Aaron Anzur, Kyle Frazier and Cole Kistler.
Summer arts festivalseeks volunteers
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Summer Festival of the Arts, presented by Youngstown State University and the Arts Council of Youngstown and Mahoning County on July 12-13, is seeking volunteers.
Volunteers are needed for information booths, in the children's craft area, for technical assistance at performance sites and at the Festival of Nations international area, among others.
Various shifts are available.
Each volunteer receives a festival T-shirt, reserved free parking and a ticket to Forte on the Fifty, the annual music and fireworks celebration that begins 7:30 p.m. July 12 in Stambaugh Stadium.

Purse-snatching reported
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 59-year-old city woman had her purse snatched by another woman.
The theft took place in the parking lot of Sparkle Market, 1912 Mahoning Ave., about 4:15 p.m. Thursday. The victim told police she tried to retrieve her purse by reaching through the driver's window of the getaway car but was knocked to the ground.
The purse and most of its contents were found a short time later. About $540 in cash was gone.
